History of my spiritual searching
I have always been interested in the mystical aspects of life. As a boy I read about paranormal abilities, the spirit world, and altered states of consciousness. When 15, I started practical experimentation with tarot cards.
In the days before the internet it was difficult to find sources of occult information and spiritual guidance. The few books that were available were about fortune telling, the unexplained, magic and psychic abilities; but they contained just fragments of wisdom, history and biographies that were of little practical use.
At age 18, I discovered my local, Reading Spiritualist Church where they regularly communicated with spirit people and had spiritual healing sessions. I was pleasantly surprised to find these occult activities going on and I became a member of its congregation. During my 25 years, within Spiritualism I have learned psychic and mediumship practices, studied their courses and given a large amount of voluntary time helping my the Reading Spiritualist Church and the national Spiritualist organisation, SNU.
Meditation and Buddhism
I have attended various meditation courses and learned new ways of working with my mind and body. I also attended classes in Buddhist philosophy and meditation.
Spiritual Christianity
My spiritual searching lead me to local Pentecostal Christian churches where the energy of the Pastor's preaching and the vibrancy of music and praise inspires me and refreshes my sense of spirituality.
Psychology
In 2003, I was awarded a Certificate of Higher Education in Social Sciences and Counselling, from Reading University. I have studied traditional psychology and the occult science, mystical and 'new-thought' approaches to human psychology.
